Edinburgh Fringe spreads to the Seaside! Nice

Aye aye he's had a few

Looking for an alternative to the madness and mayhem of the centre of Edinburgh when the Fringe kicks off ? Well have you heard about Fringe By The Sea? I have hosted the book events here for the past couple of years and this is their 3rd year and they are growing every year offering a brilliant potted fringe to everyone in East Lothian. This year from 8th – 14th August they have so much packed into their program you will squeal when you see the line up.

Oh sorry where is East Lothian ? Well it’s not far. In fact you can get there by train – it only takes 30 minutes from Edinburgh or 40 minutes in the car as this festival is based in North Berwick which is a wonderful town with a huge sweeps of sandy beach, clear blue sea water, bobbing yachts and a real carnival atmosphere. It has an atmosphere which brings me back to my childhood on Scottish beaches behind wind breaks with goose pimples after launching myself out of the sea and up the beach. Sorry I was off down memory lane for a moment.
Yes back to Fringe By The Sea have a look at the website

Sitting in a lovely seaside location watching Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham bring the house down oror what about the sublime Eddie Reader? Cafe Jacques and Capercaillie are appearing too. If you are a fan of tartan noir then pop down to see Christopher Brookmyre a great writer with a rapier wit. Maggie O’Farrell will be there too – och best just go and look at the site.
Musical delights, kids stuff, comedy, drama and meet the author events too. Sadly I can’t be there during the second weekend as I am off to two weddings! Two! I know and no I don’t know what I am going to wear. And no I haven’t booked my fake tan yet and yes of course I will be drinking. So …….maybe see you there? I will be the orange, boozer in the hat.

Enjoy!

Off to Underbelly launch tomorrow and Assembly plus a couple of previews so I will be reporting back.
